Mission Statement:
Discover Flemingsburg's mission is to strive to enhance and expand our business district while preserving the heritage of our community.
Vision Statement:
Discover Flemingsburg's vision is to
ensure a welcoming and economically thriving downtown where
generations are connected through history, culture and recreation.
Goals of Discover Flemingsburg:
*To continue to assist, support and promote the businesses,
organizations and events within the city of Flemingsburg.
*Continue to promote the paint program which assists in improving
the appearance of buildings within the city.
*Support the Tree city program in meeting their goals.
*Support, promote and participate with Small Business Saturday.
This event will take place on November 29, 2013. The day will
consist of a morning Christmas parade, downtown tours of historic
properties and churches, various events and activities throughout
the community as well as shopping locally with our small
businesses.
*Assist the City with purchasing and/or design of new season
banners for the downtown area. The committee will help promote
and assist with partnering when feasible with the cost of the
banners.
*Assisting with the design and location of an outdoor Community
Board which list community events, activities, houses brochures
and maps for visitors and travelers when
officers are closed.
*Search the cost and possibility of having an artist paint several
murals around the city which promotes the history and assets of
Flemingsburg.
*To maintain financial funds the committee will continue to hold
some type of fund raiser that will allow them to continue to
support the projects they would like to undertake.
Suggestion would be combining two or more of the communities
events to make them bigger and that would draw a larger attendance
downtown or undertaking an entirely new event for the community
that would replace an existing one.
Example of a possible idea: combining the annual Swing on
Main/Covered Bridge Festival with a Back to School, paint the town
Black and Gold event in conjunction with the opening of the new
Art Gallery on Water Street in late August of 2014. Maybe
incorporating a banner contest, raffle, prize drawings with the
event.
Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 4:30 pm at
the Chamber Office.
